Maaseudun Tulevaisuus (straight translation "The Rural Future") covers news on agriculture and forestry as well as related businesses, and on rural enterprises and life in general in the countryside. Kantri is a monthly special magazine, delivered to MT`s readers.
MT has 2nd largest readership among Finnish newspapers (see the statistics for biggest newspapers from the Finnish Media Research -panel on the top right). It has more subscribers than there are farms in the country, 62 700 farms (see the abbonnement statistics on bottom right).
It comes out 3 times a week as a broadsheet of 22 pages on the average.
Kantri is a magazine that comes out one a month with a circulation of 86 000 copies. It covers rural lifestyle, hobbies and phenomena with a slightly different touch than the daily. The readership of Kantri has grown steadily and it is highly favoured by its 181 000 readers.
Special edition Metsänomistaja ("The Forest Owner") has a circulation of 321 000 copies and has 566 000 readers. It is delivered 4 times a year to all who own a forest plot of 5 hectares or more.
Maaseudun Tulevaisuus was first published in 1916. That was one year before Finland proclaimed herself independent, or the Farmers Union was founded.
Maaseudun Tulevaisuus is published by Viestilehdet Oy, which is owned by Farmers’ Union MTK.
Maaseudun Tulevaisuus is independent from political parties.
